Lieutenant General Rodolfo, the Republic of Guatemala’s military attaché to Taiwan, visited the Military Police Command yesterday and was personally received by its commander, Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang. The two sides exchanged views on Military Police duties, military exchanges, counter-narcotics efforts, drones, and other security matters. Building on their longstanding friendship, they expressed hope of further deepening military cooperation between Taiwan and Guatemala and establishing a regular exchange mechanism.
Commander Cheng stated that the Military Police are responsible for garrison combat operations and supporting public security. In addition to continually strengthening their overall garrison combat capabilities, they actively deploy military working dogs for explosives and narcotics detection and use drone technology to enhance the effectiveness of operations and security duties. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that the two sides could share mission experience and professional expertise to strengthen cooperation in counter-narcotics, counterterrorism, security operations, and drone applications.
Rodolfo said that Taiwan and Guatemala have long maintained close and friendly relations, with military exchanges forming an important part of bilateral cooperation. He looked forward to continued collaboration on military personnel development, the sharing of mission experience, and professional training to further deepen the two countries’ military friendship and jointly safeguard regional peace and security.
The Military Police Command noted that the exchange had improved both sides’ understanding of their respective missions and professional capabilities. It also laid the groundwork for future cooperation on counter-narcotics operations, military working dog duties, and drone applications. The Command will continue to uphold mutual trust and mutual benefit, broaden the scope of bilateral military exchanges, and strengthen the friendship between the two allies.
