Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Police Command, recently delivered a motivational speech at a training and competency session for the Non-Commissioned Officer Corps, encouraging the attending NCOs to set clear goals, lead by example, and embody the “Follow Me” mindset to guide the troops forward. Commander Cheng stated that non-commissioned officers are the cornerstone and backbone of military development, combat readiness, and unit operations. They must fully recognize the importance of their duties, uphold the pragmatic attitude that “where there is a mission, there is responsibility,” and focus on their core responsibilities of combat training and operations.
Commander Cheng emphasized that care for officers and enlisted personnel should not be limited to daily living needs; it must also include education on ideology, moral character and core military values to foster a correct understanding. He further urged the continued promotion of a mentorship system where senior non-commissioned officers guide junior ones, thereby strengthening the grassroots and building consensus. Moreover, units at all levels have been relying on non-commissioned officers and officer cadres to demonstrate professionalism and commitment in the promotion of drone operation training, as well as the acceptance and verification of new weapons and equipment. By leading their subordinates in dedicated execution, they ensure that missions are completed on schedule and to the required standards, thereby continuously strengthening the unit’s combat and training capabilities.
Finally, Commander Cheng emphasized that in the face of shifting international circumstances and rapid technological advancements, non-commissioned officers and officer cadres must uphold a forward-thinking and innovative mentality. They should adopt new perspectives to review and refine existing training approaches with scientific management. At the same time, they should enhance the overall effectiveness of the unit under sound risk management to ensure the successful completion of all missions.
