Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Police Command, recently presided over the “Armed Forces Day Recognition and Promotion Ceremony,” during which he recognized personnel for outstanding performance before conferring ranks on those being promoted. He commended service members for their exemplary performance in carrying out force development and combat readiness missions, which brought honor to their units. He also expressed gratitude to military families for their longstanding support and understanding, which have enabled service members to remain fully focused on combat readiness duties.
Commander Cheng noted that September 3rd marks both Armed Forces Day and All-out Defense Education Day. He urged service members to remember the Armed Forces’ proud history while carrying forward its military ethos and spirit of loyalty. He called on them to fulfill their duty to defend the nation and protect the people through combat readiness preparations as well as operational duties, thereby safeguarding national security while maintaining social stability. Regarding the results of the “Han Kuang 42 Live Exercise,” Commander Cheng commended commanders at all levels for safely completing the continuous 10-day, 9-night exercise. The exercise validated the effectiveness of garrison operations and urban defense training.
Commander Cheng emphasized that, in response to hybrid threats arising from emerging technologies, commanders at all levels should develop innovative and asymmetric operational concepts suited to the characteristics of their respective areas of responsibility, conduct realistic combat training, and strengthen peacetime-to-wartime transition capabilities as well as command resilience. For major missions in the second half of the year, he directed units to complete planning and preparations well in advance, requiring commanders at all levels to implement “tiered responsibility and risk management.” In addition, other than administer affairs strictly in accordance with the law, they must also maintain political neutrality. He further urged them to uphold the conviction that “where there is a mission, there is responsibility,” ensuring the successful completion of every mission.
