Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Police Command, recently inspected a barracks renovation project at a northern unit. In addition to receiving a briefing on the progress of the project, Commander Cheng also conducted a detailed walkthrough of the construction areas to gain an on-site understanding of the project’s implementation progress, construction quality, and safety management. He also directed cadres to strengthen key inspections and risk control to ensure the overall safety of the project.
Commander Cheng stated that Military Police units are stationed in urban areas, making comprehensive planning of living and working spaces essential. Such planning should be centered on the actual needs of officers and enlisted personnel, creating a living experience that feels like “home.” In terms of spatial design and equipment procurement, both multifunctional use and long-term benefits should be taken into account, so that personnel can enjoy a more comfortable and convenient living environment after moving in.
Commander Cheng pointed out that barracks renovation projects should be carried out in accordance with the principles of “safety first, quality priority, and completion on schedule with the required quality.” Responsible units and construction supervisors should duly fulfill their supervisory and management responsibilities, strengthen on-site inspections and construction verification mechanisms, and ensure that all project items comply with applicable standards and specifications. He also encouraged cadres at all levels to continue implementing care for officers and enlisted personnel, improving the quality of living facilities through concrete actions, allowing colleagues to tangibly feel the improvements, and further consolidating unit cohesion and morale.
