Military Police Commander Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang recently hosted a “Combat Training Readiness Meeting,” where senior staff officers, division and section chiefs, heads of all first-level units, as well as battalion- and unit-level commanders attended the meeting. Discussions were held on air defense protection and on-site tactics, with relevant units reporting on current enemy threats and reviewed existing protective mechanisms, so as to formulate improvement measures.
Commander Cheng emphasized that the core purpose of convening the meeting was “mission advancement,” stating that achieving mission objectives through the integration of resources within the organizational structure is also the sense of “accountability” that cadres should possess. In addition, commanders at all levels should be well versed in the annual garrison and base training evaluation model, establish clear training objectives, and properly plan courses. This enables officers and soldiers to understand the purpose of training, thereby building team consensus and strengthening combat training effectiveness.
Finally, Commander Cheng reminded all units to attain a full grasp of mission advancement and training requirements. They should continue to strengthen familiarization education and training for new equipment, as well as implement equipment receipt, verification, and application in accordance with standard operating procedures so as to maximize the effectiveness of weapons. With regard to case handling by military police teams, he required strict adherence to administration by law and prudent response. Lastly, Commander Cheng called for the implementation of risk control and reporting mechanisms in order to maintain troop discipline.
