Reported by Chen Yi-Hsuan/ Summary report
Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of Military Police Command, hosted the combat training and preparation meeting yesterday and reminded the chief officers of all ranks that they should value their organizational culture, and that the only way to build up a correct working attitude and consensus among the officers and soldiers is to cast aside the old stereotypes, keep abreast of the times and train up the soldiers with positive approaches, thus building up the cohesion of the troops and creating a high-quality team with solidarity among all ranks.
At the beginning of the meeting, the operation management personnel gave a report on military engineering practices and regulations and personnel recruitment, followed by reminders of important duties from each department and work reports from the chief officers of each first-level unit. Commander Cheng pointed out that “administration in accordance with the law” is the responsibility and obligation of cadres instead of a mere slogan, and that only by familiarizing themselves with the current operational regulations and laws can they keep an eye on the quality of the projects and effectively improve the quality of life of the officers and soldiers. In addition, recruitment is one of the most important tasks in organizing and deploying the force, and chief officers at all levels should conduct thorough planning, analyze differences in effectiveness, and review current practices to eliminate targets that are inefficient or have poor growth rates, making corrections to increase the recruitment rate and stabilize the unit's growth in manpower.
Commander Cheng emphasized that “mission implementation” was the biggest purpose of this meeting. Chief officers at all levels should understand the annual training and testing pattern of their garrisons (bases) to set clear training objectives and carefully plan their course schedules, enabling their fellow officers and soldiers to understand the purpose of training and establishing a common team goal. Lastly, he urged all cadres, regardless of their rank, to themselves with the mindsets of “taking initiatives rather than waiting”, “appropriateness for the troops,” and “taking care of their subordinates”, thus eliminating the harmful practice of adopting the concept of “two wrongs make a right”, and promoting the progress of the troops in all aspects, thus equipping them with the senses of “honor, unity, and responsibility”, and building up a reliable military force for national security.
