Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Police Command, presided over the opening of the Non-Commissioned Officer Functional Training Program yesterday. Drawing on his own military experience, he urged NCO leaders to implement educational training and enforce military discipline requirements. He encouraged leaders to adopt a "perspective-shifting" approach, empathizing with grassroots officers and soldiers by prioritizing service over leadership and proactively assisting them in resolving issues.
Commander Cheng emphasized that NCO leaders at all levels should fully support their commanders, make good use of organizational division of labor, and collaborate with their commanders to set shared goals, leading their units in executing combat readiness tasks. He also encouraged the participants to fully engage in the training sessions, embodying the "Follow Me" spirit, bringing their learnings back to their units to serve as effective seed instructors. This approach aims to strengthen grassroots unit combat effectiveness and enhance the combat functions of officers and soldiers.
Finally, Commander Cheng underscored that NCOs are the backbone of their units and serve as a bridge between officers and soldiers. Each leader should strive to enhance their value and leadership capabilities, maintaining self-discipline, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence. By doing so, they can unify their units, boost morale, and lead their teams toward growth and improvement.
