Commander of Military Police Command, Lieutenant-General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, presided “orientation seminar for newly promoted officers” the other day. In the opening speech, he expressed junior officers should carry an active attitude of embracing challenges to deal with pressure and challenges. He expected each junior officer to master characteristics of military police units and important rules, strengthen competence for main duties, establish solid foundation, and devote what has been learned to the troop.
According to Commander Cheng, understanding job orientation is the first step when junior officers serve at the troop. Only by becoming familiar with personal job duty and operational procedures, we can learn more and do more. He encouraged each soldier to take hands-on approach and set themselves as an example, be brave to consult with senior cadres when encountering problems, and make good use of organizations and resources to execute practical troop tasks in order to become an excellent cadre in military police.
Commander Cheng highlighted that frustration may happen in the beginning of the military career. However, newly promoted cadres must be brave to take responsibility, overcome difficulties, assist officers and soldiers solving problems, and learn from the real practices in the troop, not just by words but by actions so as to demonstrate leadership ability in order to become solid combat force in the troop.
