Reported by Liu Chen-Wei/ Summary Report

Commander of Military Police Command, Lieutenant-General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, presided the safety symposium yesterday. In the meeting, units reported safety status and counselling cases as well as discussed causes and handlings. Commander Cheng pointed out cadres must make good use of established organizations and acknowledge the strength and weakness of officers and soldiers in order to monitor personnel movement in a timely manner and effectively prevent incidents that affect safety.

According to Commander Cheng, military police carry important responsibility of safeguarding the central government as well as the duty of special service. Cadres must implement the assessment of safety status for officers and soldiers as well as discover factors that affect safety at early stage for effective monitoring and control. Besides, appropriate measures should be conducted to prevent abnormal situations and ensure safety.

Commander Cheng emphasized cadres must continually and consistently strengthen troop management and competence to the main duty as well as implement the improvement of organizational culture and troop morality. Besides, cadres should also treat legal regulations as the accordance for troop management, provide opportunities for soldiers to improve by giving systematic guidance and leaving no one behind. The main purpose is to infuse correct concepts but not give punishment. If any officer or solider still fails to improve after guidance, principles of “not treating the innocent unjustly and not letting the guilty off lightly as well as keeping excellent personnel but eliminating those who are with poor quality” will be followed for full assessment to ensure the purity in the troop.
