In the wake of Typhoon Kong-rey, the Military Police Command once again deployed more than 300 soldiers along with disaster prevention equipment to assist the Taipei City Government in its disaster recovery mission yesterday. In seven administrative districts, including Shilin, Zhongshan, Beitou, Wenshan, Xinyi, Wanhua, and Zhongshan districts, the Commander of the Military Police Command made every effort to assist in the restoration of the city's appearance and to accelerate the improvement of life functions, such as the smooth flow of transportation routes, allowing citizens to return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Command, went to these mission areas to express his appreciation for the hard work of the troops, and emphasized that the Military Police would cooperate with the local government's disaster prevention and response mechanism and immediately engage in the post-disaster recovery mission. He recognized and commended the officers and soldiers for demonstrating the spirit of unity of purpose and dedication to the recovery work, and for their commitment to protect people's homes and properties.
Commander Cheng said that risk control should be properly carried out throughout the mission by dispatching officers to clear traffic and prevent any safety hazards. He also reminded the cadres to pay attention to the health condition of the officers and soldiers by ensuring timely hydration, proper planning of their resting and dining places, and taking good care of them while carrying out the mission.
