Typhoon Kong-rey has devastated all of Taiwan. Yesterday, the Military Police Command immediately deployed more than 220 soldiers, along with disaster prevention equipment and military-type vehicles, to assist the Taipei City Government in implementing post-disaster recovery in eight administrative districts, including Beitou, Da-an, Datong, Wenshan, Songshan, Xinyi, Wanhua, and Zhongzheng districts. Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Department of Military Police Command, together with Li Jih-An, Commissioner of the Department of Military Compulsory Service, Taipei City Government, also made a visit to those sites. In addition to expressing their concern for the progress of the recovery operations, they also offered words of encouragement to the officers and soldiers and thanked them for their efforts and dedication to protect people's homes in Taipei City.
During the process, Commissioner Li Jih-An, on behalf of Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-An and citizens of Taipei, thanked the Military Police Command for their timely support, which greatly shortened the recovery time. In addition, Commander Cheng also emphasized that all officers and soldiers of the Military Police Command have demonstrated a spirit of compassion for others and a sense of urgency by assisting in environmental clean-up and traffic safety, aiming to restore the city to normalcy as soon as possible.
Finally, Commander Cheng thanked Commissioner Lee for his concern and sympathy for the officers and soldiers, and instructed the cadres to ensure the safety of the officers and soldiers in their operations, and to make proper arrangements for the officers and soldiers to take compensatory and regular leaves after completing their duties, thus realizing the care and concern for the officers and soldiers.
