Reported by Liu Chen-Wei/ Summary report
In the face of the military exercises of the Chinese Communist Party, the military reserve units of the Military Police garrisons completed their formation promptly and mobilized to their tactical positions in accordance with the order to be on alert. Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Command, visited the garrisons in the northern Taiwan yesterday. In addition to recognizing and praising the hard work of officers and soldiers in combat training, he also noted that every one of them serves as a strong warrior to protect freedom, democracy and the sovereignty of the Republic of China, and he expected the troops to keep on training in combat readiness and to strengthen their capability in defense operations.
Commander Cheng said that the Chinese Communist Party has recently been trying to change the status quo by taking actions in the “gray zone”, which not only jeopardizes the maritime security situation on the Taiwan Strait, but also seriously affects regional security. In the face of such threats, every officer and soldier should be more vigilant and strengthen their combat readiness. In addition, Commander Cheng also reminded the troops to strengthen the garrison’s ability to organize and respond to emergencies. Apart from educating the officers and soldiers to familiarize themselves with their own missions and tactical positions, the cadres should also improve their command procedures in order to respond to the ever-changing battlefield conditions and to take precautions in case of emergencies.
Lastly, Commander Cheng also reminded that in the face of the Chinese Communist Party’s military actions to cognitively intimidate and socially polarize Taiwan, cadres should be fully aware of the situation, strengthening the mental defenses of officers and soldiers, boosting team morale, and demonstrating the determination of the Military Police to safeguard national security. He also urged the officers and soldiers to uphold the mentality that “every place can be a battlefield, and training should be conducted every day”, and to strengthen their professional competence in their duties and combat training, thus building a reliable combat force and developing strong defense resilience.
