Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Police Command, presided over the combat training and preparation meeting yesterday and convened senior military officers, section chiefs, team leaders and key cadres of various units. Apart from encouraging his subordinates to perform their duties diligently in combat training, he also reminded the cadres that they should make use of their own powers and authorities to act as the gatekeeper for the rights and interests of officers and soldiers, to optimize the allocation of resources and properly assign duties, thereby giving full play to the effectiveness of the team.
Commander Cheng pointed out that troops should be pragmatic in their work, following the “procedures, steps and guidelines” and adhering to the principle of fairness, thus ensuring uniformity in the execution of their duties. Cadres at all levels must also manage risks properly and implement internal management, education and training, as well as disciplinary requirements, thereby laying a solid foundation for a healthy team environment. In addition, in view of the approaching National Day duties, the troops should take into account their missions and current manpower. He also urged the unit commanders to appropriately plan the utilization of manpower and to improve the various risk management and control measures to ensure the smooth operation of the duties.
Lastly, Commander Cheng reminded that all units should be prepared for typhoon situations, and that they should finalize the preparation of disaster relief forces and equipment. For the Hualien-Taitung region, where pre-positioned units have been dispatched, more attention should be paid to the safety of personnel on duty and food hygiene. Officers at all levels should place the safety of their personnel at the forefront of their training, making adjustments in accordance with procedures depending on weather conditions, thus ensuring the safety of their troops.
