Lieutenant General Cheng Chen-Hsiang, Commander of the Military Police Command, presided over an official leadership meeting with key cadres yesterday, and convened section chiefs and team leaders for the meeting, encouraging them with the phrase, “The change of tasks is an opportunity to accumulate operational strength”. In the face of ensuing tasks and challenges, cadres should adopt a positive mindset and lead their teams in a holistic manner, thus maximizing their effectiveness of teamwork and accomplishing their tasks together.

“Talents are made by training, and they always need to have the will to win”, advised Commander Cheng, adding that excellent leaders must understand their subordinates, think differently about their character and strengths, and cultivate theircapability in enduring the hardships that they may encounter in the next position, leading the team to grow and thrive together.

Commander Cheng emphasized that the harmony of the work team relies on cadres’ proper guidance with positive reinforcement, and that they should refrain from harsh words, treat their subordinates with honesty and integrity, and not to use exploit them as tools. Leaders should help newcomers to adapt to the situation through communication and co-ordination, and set good examples for their colleagues through their own actions.

Lastly, Commander Cheng pointed out that the participants of the meeting are all leaders in the formulation of policies for the Military Police. In the face of the ever-changing nature of military threats, they should each perform their respective roles to implement realistic training for combat readiness and to effectively carry out defense operations.
