While hosting the Battle Training Preparations Meeting yesterday, Military Police Command Commander Lieutenant General Chou Kuang-Chi pointed out that because the combat forces need to deal with numerous affairs, the officers should uphold a strict and meticulous attitude, to properly utilize management tools such as node management list, staff organization chart, operating flow chart, as well as the Gantt chart to carefully plan out the work items for the week, month, and season. Additionally, project nodes shall also be promulgated based on the aforementioned charts, thereby effectively accomplishing the missions that higher ranking officers had entrusted.
During the meeting, Commander Chou also shared a book review of a book he recently finished to the officers, urging subordinates to implement a culture of accountability within their units while also eliminate the notion of “care only about the process, don’t mind the results”. Commander Chou stressed that one should not just accomplish a task, but to do it better, always be accountable for the end result. Also, Commander Chou requests the officers to uphold a passionate attitude while providing service, to actively helm more responsibilities, to discover and solve issues that occur in a combat force, thereby bringing members of the entire unit to reach higher states in their development.
Lastly, Commander Chou emphasized that all units must flip the traditional leadership culture on its head. To do so, a higher ranking officer should appropriately empower his/her officers, cultivate the subordinates’ abilities of predicting a problem, discover a problem, and handle a problem, as well as to establish a clear-cut rewards and punishment system that is based on the principles of “no secrets, no double-standard, and no leniency”. Furthermore, one shall treat his/her subordinates with sincerity, which in turn both enhances the cohesiveness of the unit as a whole and increases the loyalty of the subordinates to their given roles, thereby allowing them to effectively exert their combat strength when necessary.
