In order to enable officers and soldiers participating in important battles concerning national security to complete their demobilization as soon as possible and to receive the guidance and care of the government, the Ministry of National Defense, in accordance with the ROC Veterans Assistance Act, completed the revision of “Rules for Identifying Officers and Soldiers Participating in Battle of August 23 and Other Important Campaigns concerning National Security”; in addition, from June 17, 1960 to June 19 of the same year, the CCP bombarded the Jinmen area. According to the historical collection, the name of the battle was “Jinmen 619 Bombardment”. The battle was for defending Taiwan strait and the Ministry of National Defense had approved that the bombardment was an important battle concerning the national security.
The officers and soldiers engaging in Jinmen 619 Bombardment could attach the application form, verification questionnaire and copy of ID card and Military Service Discharge Order and other data to the municipal and county (city) reserved commands (or mobilized reserved management group of Jinmen and Mazu area) of the locality where the household registration was located. After being verified by the original unit where the officers and soldiers discharged, the Veterans Affairs Council would issue an honorary national certificate.
